Morning everyone,
I was planning to write this newsletter on “how many hours I’m working for free right now” 😅, but then, while scrolling left and right, I stumbled upon the Bolt Hackathon trend, and it blew my mind. I had to share it with you.
If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about Lovable—the fastest-growing startup in Europe. In just three months, the company has scaled to $17.5M in ARR (annual returning revenue), adding $2M in net new revenue every. single. week. That’s 1,500 new customers per day 🤯
What is Lovable?
Lovable is essentially your superhuman full-stack engineer—an AI tool that lets you create the code for your website or app in seconds. Right now, if you're not comfortable with IT, it might still feel a bit complex, but the direction is clear: In 12 months, anyone will be able to build an app or website from scratch, in minutes, with zero coding knowledge. Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit—but not by much.
Enter Bolt.new
Bolt.new is another game-changing tool. Launched in October ‘24 with just a tweet, it now has millions of registered users and has already raised $100M+.
Now, follow me—because things escalated pretty fast.
Three days ago, this guy posted:
Eric Simons, Bolt’s CEO, (saw the opportunity) rapidly replied:
The post went viral, and in less than 24 hours, the prize pool surpassed $1M, with already 5,000 registered participants.
The best part? They needed a website for the hackathon, so they offered $3K to whoever built the best one—using Bolt, of course.
In the next few months, we’ll see a new wave of website/app creators who, with a bit of creativity, will carve out highly profitable niches for themselves.
And if you need proof that this is a real movement, here’s another confirmation:
100,000 New Ideas in One Day
This insane hackathon, which I hope we’ll be able to follow LIVE, is expected to generate 100,000 usable ideas in a single day. Imagine: What took months/years to build, validate, design, test, etc… In one single day! Just mind-blowing.
Six months ago, no one would have believed it. And six months from now, no one will believe what happens next.
If you just want to play around, test your creativity here:
And as I said in my last newsletter: AI will be disruptive, but it will also be accessible to everyone, everywhere, faster and more reliably than ever. The real challenge will be coupling it with tangible aspects to create long-term, AI-resistant opportunities.
Exciting times to be alive.
Talk to you next week!
Alessandro
I tried both sites and they look really, really cool to someone like me who doesn't know anything about programming.
And it seems like the API interface used in designing the pages is a good point of monetization, where sponsors can sponsor to have their API appear at the top of AI's auto-suggest list.
They seem to me to have more potential than ChatGPT, which is $200 a month but mostly just gives me made-up fake content.
